Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography) as per physician orders and established protocols.
- Ensure optimal patient safety and comfort throughout all imaging procedures, explaining processes clearly and addressing any concerns.
- Operate and maintain a variety of advanced imaging equipment, ensuring proper calibration, functionality, and adherence to quality control standards.
- Accurately record and document patient information, imaging parameters, and results in compliance with clinical and administrative guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to interpret images and facilitate comprehensive patient care.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, radiation protection guidelines (ALARA principle), and departmental quality assurance standards.
- Provide clear, concise explanations of procedures to patients, ensuring their understanding and alleviating anxiety.
- Actively participate in continuous professional development, training sessions, and workshops to stay abreast of technological advancements and best practices in medical imaging.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment, including imaging rooms and equipment.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating various diagnostic imaging equipment and PACS systems.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to imaging.
- Excellent patient care skills, empathy, and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in image acquisition and documentation.
- Thorough knowledge of radiation safety principles, dose optimization, and protection protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to new technologies and clinical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging Technology from an accredited institution.
- Valid professional license and registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a clinical radiography setting.
- Experience with advanced imaging modalities (e.g., MRI, CT, Mammography, Interventional Radiology) and cross-sectional anatomy.
- Certifications in specialized imaging areas or advanced life support.
