Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures including X-ray, CT, MRI, and potentially ultrasound, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
  • Prepare patients for imaging examinations, explaining procedures clearly, empathetically, and addressing any concerns to ensure their comfort and safety throughout.
  • Accurately position patients for various imaging modalities, adhering to strict protocols, patient confidentiality, and radiation protection guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, conducting daily quality assurance checks, performing minor troubleshooting, and reporting significant faults promptly.
  • Maintain precise and comprehensive patient records, including demographic information, examination details, relevant clinical history, and any findings.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, medical professionals, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care, optimal diagnostic workflow, and multidisciplinary discussion.
  • Adhere strictly to all local and national radiation safety regulations, departmental policies, and professional codes of conduct.
  • Actively participate in continuous professional development (CPD) activities, training programs, and departmental meetings to stay current with advancements in radiography.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of junior staff, radiography students, or support personnel as required.
  • Manage and prioritise workload efficiently, responding to emergency cases promptly and effectively, ensuring critical cases are handled without delay.

Required Skills

  • BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Current and valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a Radiographer in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating various diagnostic imaging equipment (including general X-ray, CT, and MRI).
  • Exceptional patient care and communication skills, with a compassionate and professional approach.
  • Strong understanding of radiation protection principles, IR(ME)R regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Solid organisational skills, attention to detail, and efficient time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced imaging modalities such as Cardiac MRI, Interventional Radiology, or specialised Ultrasound examinations.
  • Post-graduate qualification or advanced certifications in a specialist area of radiography.
  • Evidence of leadership potential, experience mentoring junior colleagues, or participating in service improvement projects.
  • Proficiency in using Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) for image management and patient data.
  • Familiarity with quality audit processes and clinical governance within an imaging department.
