Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiographer to join our dynamic team at MedActiv Medical & Dental Center Flacq. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for operating X-ray and other diagnostic imaging equipment to produce high-quality images for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will work closely with radiologists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring precise imaging procedures while prioritizing patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality. This position requires a strong understanding of radiological principles, patient care best practices, and meticulous attention to detail. Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, primarily X-rays, on patients as requested by medical practitioners, ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety.
- Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, ensuring its proper functioning, calibration, and adherence to safety standards.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort and cooperation.
- Accurately position patients and select appropriate exposure factors to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Review and evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring they meet diagnostic standards before submission to radiologists.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring proper documentation of procedures performed and related information.
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety protocols, including the use of protective shielding and monitoring devices for both patients and staff.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Assist in the scheduling of appointments and managing the flow of patients in the imaging department.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay updated with advancements in radiography and imaging technology.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the radiography room and equipment.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging Technology from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and licensing with the relevant medical or radiography council in Mauritius.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience as a Radiographer, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray equipment and performing various radiographic procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of radiation safety principles and practices.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in English and French (both verbal and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other imaging modalities such as CT or MRI.
- Additional certifications in specialized radiographic techniques.
- Knowledge of hospital information systems (HIS) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
