Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-ray, CT scans, and potentially MRI/Ultrasound, in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure accurate patient positioning and apply appropriate imaging techniques to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety regulations and protocols, protecting patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Maintain and operate imaging equipment efficiently, troubleshoot minor issues, and report technical malfunctions promptly.
- Provide clear, empathetic instructions to patients, ensuring their comfort, understanding, and cooperation throughout the imaging process.
- Review images for quality and completeness, ensuring all relevant anatomical structures are clearly visualized.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of imaging procedures.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay current with advancements in radiologic technology and practice.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging Technology from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the relevant professional body in Mauritius.
- Minimum of 2 years of practical experience as a Radiographer.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray and CT imaging equipment.
- Thorough understanding of radiation safety principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in both English and French.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MRI and/or Ultrasound imaging systems.
- Advanced certifications in specialized imaging modalities.
- Previous experience in a private hospital setting.
- Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
