Job Description

As a Radiology Assistant Trainee, you will work closely under the supervision of experienced Radiologists and Radiologic Technologists. You will be immersed in the daily operations of a radiology department, observing and participating in various imaging procedures, from X-rays and ultrasounds to understanding the basics of more advanced modalities. This role is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience in radiology, providing comprehensive on-the-job training covering patient preparation, equipment handling, safety protocols, and administrative tasks specific to a medical imaging setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist radiologic technologists and radiologists with patient positioning and preparation for various imaging procedures (e.g., X-ray, ultrasound).
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout their time in the radiology department.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of imaging rooms and equipment.
  • Transport patients to and from the radiology department as needed.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and managing patient records.
  • Learn and adhere to all hospital policies, safety regulations, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Prepare examination rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Observe and learn proper use and maintenance of imaging equipment.
  • Provide basic patient care and support under direct supervision.

Required Skills

  • Completion of O-Level education (or equivalent)
  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously
  • Compassionate and patient-focused demeanor
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Physical stamina to assist with patient mobility and stand for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior volunteer experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology (advantageous but not required)
  • Fluency in English and Swahili
