Job Description

Career.zycto is actively recruiting on behalf of a prominent client in the railway sector, seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Railway Signal Technician to join their team in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair railway signal systems, including interlockings, block signals, grade crossing warning devices, and associated components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical malfunctions in signal apparatus using specialized testing equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all signal equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Interpret circuit diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals to execute tasks and diagnose faults accurately.
  • Adhere strictly to all railway safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs for signal failures and enact timely repairs to minimize service disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed.
  • Collaborate effectively with other railway personnel, including dispatchers, track crews, and engineers.
  • Participate in training and development programs to stay current with evolving signal technology and safety practices.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly, transporting tools and equipment to various work sites.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Railway Signal Technician or similar role (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of railway signaling principles, circuits, and components.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex circuit diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift heavy equipment, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant technical diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific railway signaling systems (e.g., Alstom, GE Transportation, Siemens).
  • Familiarity with CROR (Canadian Rail Operating Rules) and other relevant railway regulations.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with PLC programming or SCADA systems in a railway context.
