Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and highly motivated Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team at Bobonong Primary Hospital. This full-time, on-site position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on public health within the Bobonong community. As a Registered Nurse, you will be at the forefront of patient care, providing essential nursing services across various departments, including general wards, outpatient clinics, and potentially emergency services, based on operational needs and your expertise. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver holistic, patient-centered care, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions. You will be responsible for administering medications, monitoring patient vital signs, assisting with medical procedures, and maintaining accurate patient records. Beyond clinical tasks, this role emphasizes strong patient advocacy, health education, and emotional support for patients and their families. You will work collaboratively with physicians, other nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, monitor patient responses, and document all care.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs, symptoms, and medical information.
  • Assist physicians with medical examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and post-discharge care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate assistance as needed.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and national healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and quality improvement activities.

Required Skills

  • Valid registration as a Registered Nurse with the Botswana Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).
  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year post-registration clinical experience.
  • Proficiency in clinical assessment, patient care, and emergency response.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Basic computer literacy for electronic record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
  • Experience in a public health setting or primary hospital environment.
  • Certifications in specialized areas such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Fluency in Setswana and English.
