Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote API Tester to join our dynamic and distributed team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the quality and reliability of critical software systems from the comfort of their home office. As a Remote API Tester, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the robustness, performance, and security of our various application programming interfaces (APIs) that power our innovative solutions for a diverse range of clients. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and cases specifically focused on API functionality, integration, and end-to-end workflows.
This role requires a deep understanding of API testing methodologies, tools, and best practices. You will collaborate closely with development, product, and other QA teams across different time zones to understand requirements, identify potential issues early in the development cycle, and provide actionable feedback. Your expertise will be crucial in automating API tests, building reusable test frameworks, and integrating them into our continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to maintain a high standard of quality. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive API test plans and test cases.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing for various APIs.
- Utilize API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, Swagger, JMeter) for manual and automated testing.
- Develop and maintain automated API tests using scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) or automation frameworks.
- Integrate API test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing efforts.
- Identify, document, and track software defects and work closely with development teams for resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, product owners, other QA) to understand requirements and ensure testability.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on API specifications and architecture.
- Monitor API performance and reliability, reporting on key metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
- Stay current with industry best practices in API testing, automation, and quality assurance.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software quality assurance, with a strong focus on API testing.
- Proficiency with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, Swagger, or similar.
- Solid understanding of RESTful and SOAP web services, JSON, and XML data formats.
- Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java) for API test automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and integrating automated tests.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration in a remote setting.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a work-from-home environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner for APIs.
- Knowledge of security testing principles and tools for APIs.
