Job Description

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is seeking a talented and self-driven Remote Cloud Security Engineer to join our innovative team. While this role is based out of Roseville, California, it operates fully remotely, offering you the freedom to work from anywhere within the United States.

In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security postures across HPE’s cloud platforms and services, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our and our clients’ assets. You will leverage your expertise in a multi-cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP) to identify vulnerabilities, develop preventative measures, and respond to security incidents. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls and best practices for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments.
  • Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability analysis to identify and mitigate risks in cloud architectures and applications.
  • Develop and automate security solutions, tools, and processes to enhance detection, response, and prevention capabilities.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and architecture teams to integrate security into the CI/CD pipeline (DevSecOps).
  • Participate in security incident response, investigation, and forensic analysis for cloud-based incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR), and internal security policies.
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship on cloud security best practices to other engineers and teams.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud security threats, technologies, and regulations.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud security engineering or a related cybersecurity role.
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles and practices across major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Go) for automation and security tool development.
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools and cloud security posture management (CSPM) solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network security, identity and access management (IAM), data protection, and encryption technologies.
  • Familiarity with container security (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for security configuration.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to open-source security projects or presenting at industry conferences.
