Johnston Carmichael, Scotland’s largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, is seeking a dedicated Remote Credit Control Analyst to join our dynamic and supportive finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in managing and overseeing our client debtor accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, and maintaining healthy cash flow for the firm. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices through proactive communication.
- Perform regular debtor reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies swiftly and accurately.
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service while resolving payment queries.
- Monitor aged debt reports, implementing strategies to reduce overdue balances and improve cash collection rates.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments (e.g., Client Engagement Teams, Billing) to resolve client queries and payment issues.
- Process and allocate incoming payments accurately and efficiently within the accounting system.
- Prepare regular reports on debtor status, cash flow forecasts, and collection performance for management review.
- Identify potential credit risks and escalate complex or high-risk cases to senior management.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of credit control policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and data protection guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or Collections role (minimum 3 years).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly regarding accounts receivable.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve issues professionally.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in challenging situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CICM Diploma or equivalent).
- Experience with cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct).
- Familiarity with the professional services sector (e.g., accounting, legal, consulting firms).
- A track record of successfully reducing aged debt and improving collection efficiency.
