Zillow is seeking a meticulous and proactive Remote Data Quality Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of data quality across Zillow’s vast and complex datasets. Your work will directly support our Zestimates, search functionality, advertising platforms, and countless other features that empower consumers in their real estate journey. You will develop, implement, and monitor robust data quality processes, identify discrepancies, troubleshoot root causes, and collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to implement sustainable solutions. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to communicate complex data issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. As a Remote Data Quality Analyst, you’ll operate autonomously while staying deeply connected to your team through modern collaboration tools, ensuring data reliability regardless of location. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement data quality checks, rules, and metrics for various data sources and pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Proactively monitor data quality trends, identify anomalies, and investigate root causes of data inconsistencies or errors across diverse datasets.
- Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to define data quality requirements and ensure data accuracy across all systems.
- Document data quality issues, resolutions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data governance and knowledge sharing.
- Perform extensive data profiling and analysis to understand data characteristics, identify data dependencies, and discover potential quality concerns.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize data quality metrics, communicate findings to relevant teams, and drive data improvement initiatives.
- Participate in data governance initiatives, contributing to the establishment and enforcement of data standards and policies across the organization.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in data quality analysis, data governance, or a related data-centric role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for advanced data querying, analysis, and manipulation.
- Experience with data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to identify patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and understanding of data warehousing concepts (e.g., ETL processes, data lakes).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Familiarity with data quality tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Data Quality, Talend).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and automation.
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
- Understanding of real estate data and industry-specific data quality challenges.
- Experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI for data visualization.
