Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and proactive Remote Data Steward to join our UK team. This vital role focuses on ensuring the quality, integrity, and governance of Experian’s critical data assets across our diverse UK operations. As a Remote Data Steward, you will play a crucial part in upholding our rigorous data standards, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements (such as GDPR and other local UK data protection laws), and supporting robust, data-driven decision-making across the business. You will be instrumental in maintaining accurate and comprehensive metadata, defining precise data quality rules, and collaborating closely with various business units, data owners, and IT teams to swiftly identify and resolve data-related issues.
This position demands a strong foundational understanding of data governance principles, a keen eye for detail, and exceptional communication skills to articulate complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain data quality standards and processes across designated data domains.
- Develop and manage metadata, including data definitions, lineage, and data dictionaries.
- Ensure adherence to data governance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, DPA).
- Collaborate with data owners and business stakeholders to define data quality rules and KPIs.
- Monitor data quality, identify data issues, and coordinate their resolution with relevant teams.
- Support the data lifecycle management process, from data creation to archival.
- Provide guidance and training to business users on data governance best practices and tools.
- Participate in data-related projects, ensuring data governance principles are embedded from the outset.
- Document data flows, processes, and data stewardship activities.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a data stewardship, data quality, or data governance role.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.
- Experience with metadata management and data catalog tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Familiarity with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, DPA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) systems.
