Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Remote ESL Instructor to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging and effective online ESL lessons tailored to various proficiency levels (beginner to advanced).
- Utilize a variety of digital tools and resources to create an interactive and student-centered virtual learning environment.
- Assess student progress regularly through assignments, quizzes, and participation, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds of students.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues and the program coordinator to enhance curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Provide clear expectations and maintain a supportive, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere.
- Stay current with best practices in ESL instruction and online teaching methodologies.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native English fluency
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field
- TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certification
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of experience teaching ESL to adult learners
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and video conferencing platforms (e.g., Canvas, Zoom)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline
- Experience with online curriculum development and instructional design for ESL programs
- Familiarity with various ESL textbooks and supplementary materials
- Experience teaching in a community college or university setting
