Job Description
Caritas of Waco is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Grant Writer to join our dedicated team on a flexible, part-time basis. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to significantly impact our mission by securing vital funding that directly supports our programs designed to combat poverty, hunger, and homelessness in Waco and McLennan County. As our Remote Grant Writer, you will be instrumental in researching, developing, writing, and submitting compelling grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This position is ideal for a self-starter who excels in a remote environment, possesses exceptional writing and research skills, and has a proven track record of securing significant grant funding for non-profit organizations.
Working autonomously with a flexible schedule, you will manage the full lifecycle of grant applications, from initial prospect research to proposal submission and post-award reporting. You will collaborate closely with our program directors and leadership team to understand funding needs, gather data, and articulate the profound impact of our services. This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to craft persuasive narratives, and a deep understanding of the non-profit funding landscape. Key Responsibilities
- Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with Caritas of Waco's mission and programs.
- Develop, write, and edit compelling and persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising materials.
- Manage a comprehensive grant calendar, tracking deadlines for proposals, reports, and acknowledgements.
- Collaborate with program managers and leadership to gather necessary information, data, and success stories for grant applications and reports.
- Ensure all grant submissions are accurate, complete, and submitted on time, adhering to all grantor guidelines.
- Maintain organized records of all grant activities, submissions, and communications in a grant management system.
- Prepare timely and accurate grant reports for funders, demonstrating the impact of secured funding.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential funders, fostering long-term support for Caritas of Waco.
- Stay informed about current trends in philanthropy, funding priorities, and best practices in grant writing.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in grant writing and securing significant funding, preferably for non-profit organizations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive narratives.
- Strong research and analytical skills to identify appropriate funding opportunities and gather supporting data.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with CRM or grant management software.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Understanding of non-profit operations and the unique challenges and opportunities in the social services sector.
- Ability to articulate the mission and impact of Caritas of Waco with passion and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Non-profit Management, or a related field.
- Experience with federal and/or state grant applications and reporting requirements.
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential or actively pursuing.
- Familiarity with the Waco/McLennan County philanthropic landscape and local community needs.
- Prior experience working remotely and managing a flexible work schedule effectively.
