Job Description
Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Mechanical Drafting Assistant to join our dynamic engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the design, maintenance, and upgrade of our critical industrial infrastructure from a remote setting. As a Remote Mechanical Drafting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in transforming conceptual designs and engineering specifications into accurate, comprehensive technical drawings and schematics using advanced CAD software. Your work will directly support our engineers and project managers in various stages of our operations, from initial design phases to ongoing plant modifications and maintenance. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, schematics, and layouts from engineering sketches, specifications, and red-lined markups.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create accurate and complete technical documentation for various mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
- Revise and update existing drawings and documentation according to engineering changes, site conditions, and project requirements.
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and company drafting guidelines.
- Collaborate remotely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to understand project needs and technical requirements.
- Maintain an organized system for drafting files, ensuring proper version control and document management.
- Perform self-checks on completed work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to drafting standards.
- Assist in the development of bills of materials (BOMs) and other related documentation.
- Participate in virtual team meetings and provide input on drafting-related matters.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or other major CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor)
- Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all drafting work
- Strong organizational and time management skills for remote work
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with standard drafting practices and industrial symbols
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Experience with P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) creation and modification
- Prior experience working in a remote capacity for an industrial or manufacturing company
- Knowledge of mining or heavy industrial equipment and processes
- Experience with document control systems
