Key Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, review, and submit medical claims to various insurance carriers (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation).
- Follow up on unpaid claims, investigate rejections and denials, and initiate appeals as necessary.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, ensuring correct information for billing.
- Process patient payments, post charges, and manage accounts receivable.
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
- Utilize practice management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently.
- Identify and report trends in denials or payment issues to management for process improvement.
- Stay updated on current coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and payer-specific requirements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller (minimum 2 years).
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
- Strong understanding of insurance claim submission processes and payer requirements.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- AAPC or AHIMA certification (e.g., CPC, COC, CPB, CCS).
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
