Job Description

Working from your home office, you will be at the forefront of the medical billing cycle, meticulously managing tasks from charge capture and accurate coding to claims submission, payment posting, and diligent follow-up on outstanding accounts. We require an individual who not only possesses a robust understanding of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10 coding, and healthcare compliance regulations but also has a proven track record of minimizing denials and accelerating revenue cycles. This role involves meticulous data entry, comprehensive claim scrubbing, and proactive engagement with insurance companies and patients to resolve billing discrepancies. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter patient demographic information, charges, and payments into the billing system.
  • Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to various insurance payers, ensuring compliance with billing regulations and payer-specific requirements.
  • Review and verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage prior to services rendered.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, investigate rejections and denials, and appeal as necessary to ensure maximum reimbursement.
  • Process patient statements, answer billing inquiries, and resolve patient account discrepancies with empathy and professionalism.
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately and timely, reconciling accounts as needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines regarding patient information.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers and administrative staff to gather necessary billing documentation.
  • Stay updated on industry changes, coding updates, and compliance regulations to ensure best practices.
  • Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends and areas for improvement in the revenue cycle.
  • Assist with coding audits and documentation reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance claim submission and denial management processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications
