Job Description

Rackspace Technology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal full-time role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and secure network infrastructures for our diverse clientele. As a Remote Network Engineer, you will leverage your expertise to manage complex networking environments, troubleshoot intricate issues, and ensure optimal performance and reliability across various cloud platforms and traditional data centers. This position demands a proactive approach to network security, a deep understanding of routing and switching protocols, and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a globally distributed team. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures for enterprise clients.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of network-related incidents and problems.
  • Configure and manage network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers (Cisco, Juniper, FortiGate, F5, etc.).
  • Monitor network performance and ensure high availability and reliability of network services.
  • Implement and enforce network security policies and best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical incident response and support.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate network solutions with existing systems.
  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and client teams.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in network engineering and administration.
  • Strong proficiency in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and other routing protocols.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other major networking vendors' hardware and software.
  • Hands-on experience with firewall technologies (e.g., Palo Alto, FortiGate, Cisco ASA).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote, distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure VNet, Google Cloud Networking).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for network automation.
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Understanding of ITIL framework and service management principles.
