Are you a highly motivated and community-focused individual with a passion for making a real difference? Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) is seeking a dedicated Remote Outreach Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal work-from-home role, you will be instrumental in expanding our reach, forging vital connections within the diverse communities of Leicester and Leicestershire, and ensuring our services are accessible to those who need them most.

VAL is a leading voluntary and community sector infrastructure organisation, committed to supporting, developing, and representing voluntary and community groups across Leicester and Leicestershire. For decades, we have been at the forefront of empowering local communities, fostering social inclusion, and building a stronger, more resilient society. We believe in the power of collective action and the immense value that every individual brings. As we continue to adapt and grow, we recognise the increasing importance of flexible working models, and this remote position is a testament to our commitment to attracting the best talent, regardless of geographical proximity to our physical office.

As our Remote Outreach Coordinator, you will be the bridge between VAL and the communities we serve. Your primary goal will be to identify, engage, and nurture relationships with community groups, local authorities, businesses, and individuals who can benefit from or contribute to VAL’s mission. This involves a proactive approach to understanding community needs, promoting VAL’s wide array of support services, training opportunities, and volunteering initiatives, and ensuring a continuous feedback loop to inform our strategic development. You will be a key advocate for our values, inspiring collaboration and partnership building from the comfort of your home office.

This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine desire to connect with people from all walks of life. You will develop and implement outreach strategies, manage engagement campaigns, organise virtual and, where appropriate and safe, in-person community events, and represent VAL at various forums. The ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and utilise digital tools effectively will be crucial for success. We are looking for someone who is not just seeking a job, but a meaningful opportunity to contribute to significant social impact, working within a supportive and forward-thinking organisational culture that champions flexibility and employee well-being. Join us in making a tangible difference to the lives of thousands across Leicestershire, all while enjoying the benefits of a fully remote working environment.

  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with community groups, local authorities, educational institutions, and other relevant organisations.
  • Actively promote VAL's services, training programmes, and volunteering opportunities through various channels, including digital platforms, presentations, and events.
  • Organise and facilitate virtual and, when safe and appropriate, in-person outreach events, workshops, and information sessions.
  • Gather feedback from community members and partners to inform VAL’s programme development and strategic planning.
  • Monitor and report on outreach activities, progress, and impact, ensuring data is accurately recorded and analysed.
  • Collaborate internally with VAL teams to ensure integrated approaches to community engagement and service delivery.
  • Represent VAL professionally at external meetings, forums, and networking events, acting as an ambassador for our mission and values.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in community outreach, engagement, or partnership development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities, with a capacity to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools, CRM systems, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote environment, managing time and tasks autonomously.
  • A genuine passion for community development and social impact.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for occasional travel within Leicestershire (if required for in-person events).

  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Community Development, Social Sciences, Marketing, Public Relations).
  • Experience working within the voluntary, community, or non-profit sector.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape and community needs of Leicester and Leicestershire.
  • Experience with content creation for social media and other digital outreach channels.
