Job Description

Are you an experienced Payroll Executive with a keen eye for detail and a passion for precision? Mistry & Co Chartered Accountants is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Remote Payroll Executive to join our expanding team. This full-time role operates on UK hours, allowing you to manage payroll operations for a diverse portfolio of clients from the comfort of your home office. You will be instrumental in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for our clients, ranging from small businesses to larger enterprises. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute full-cycle payroll processing for a portfolio of diverse clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly pay runs.
  • Administer statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, SPP, and SHPP, in strict accordance with HMRC regulations.
  • Manage pension auto-enrolment processes, including contributions, assessments, and communication with pension providers.
  • Process new starters (P45, P46), leavers (P45), and manage year-end procedures such as P60s and P11Ds.
  • Respond to and resolve client and employee payroll queries promptly and professionally, providing clear and concise explanations.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with all UK payroll legislation, including RTI submissions and GDPR requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll data, prepare detailed reports, and provide insights to clients as needed.
  • Utilise leading payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll, BrightPay) efficiently and maintain up-to-date knowledge of system functionalities.
  • Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients regarding payroll-related matters, handling queries and submissions.
  • Assist in the implementation of new payroll systems or processes as the firm grows and technology evolves.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll and client information in line with data protection policies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years demonstrable experience in UK payroll processing, preferably in an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environment.
  • Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.).
  • Proficiency with leading payroll software such as Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll, or BrightPay.
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective client and team interaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple client payrolls simultaneously and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of working independently in a remote setting.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience with a variety of industry-specific payrolls and salary structures.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of furlough schemes and other relevant government grants/support programs.
  • Previous experience in a client-facing payroll role within an accounting firm environment.
