Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented payroll professional seeking a remote opportunity with a leading national company? Pilot Company is looking for a dedicated Remote Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a large, diverse employee base across multiple states. Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls for multi-state employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review and verify all payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, earnings, and tax information.
- Administer and process employee benefits, garnishments, and 401(k) contributions.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax withholdings in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports for internal and external audits.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliation.
- Stay current on payroll legislation and best practices to ensure compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct payroll data analysis and generate reports as needed by management.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in multi-state payroll processing for a large employee base.
- Proficiency with large-scale payroll software (e.g., UKG Pro/UltiPro, Workday, ADP).
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Excellent data entry skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
- Experience with UKG Pro (UltiPro) payroll system.
- Experience in the retail, logistics, or transportation industry.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems integration with payroll.
- Experience with payroll tax filing and reconciliation.
