Are you an innovative Service Design Consultant passionate about shaping exceptional user experiences and driving strategic change within a global consultancy? Capgemini is seeking a talented and experienced Remote Service Design Consultant to join our dynamic team, working from the vibrant hub of Cowley, Oxford, or anywhere across the UK. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of designing human-centred services that solve complex business challenges for our diverse client portfolio, spanning various industries and public sectors.
As a Remote Service Design Consultant at Capgemini, you will leverage your expertise to bridge the gap between user needs, business objectives, and technological possibilities. You will lead end-to-end service design projects, from initial discovery and robust user research through to conceptualization, prototyping, and comprehensive implementation support. Your work will involve deeply understanding customer journeys, pain points, and aspirations, translating these insights into tangible service blueprints, future-state scenarios, and actionable recommendations. You will champion a user-centred approach, ensuring that every solution is intuitive, efficient, and delightful.
This remote position offers the flexibility to contribute your skills from your home base while remaining fully integrated into our collaborative project teams. You will collaborate seamlessly with product managers, UX/UI designers, business analysts, technologists, and senior client stakeholders, often utilising advanced digital collaboration tools and agile methodologies. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate service design workshops and co-creation sessions with clients and internal teams, both remotely and in-person when required.
- Conduct comprehensive user research, including interviews, ethnography, surveys, and usability testing, to uncover deep user insights and needs.
- Develop and communicate service design deliverables such as customer journey maps, service blueprints, personas, ecosystem maps, and user stories.
- Translate research findings and strategic objectives into innovative service concepts, digital and physical touchpoints, and actionable design recommendations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (UX/UI, product, engineering, business analysts) to ensure seamless integration of design solutions into development processes.
- Advocate for user-centred design principles and best practices throughout all project phases and with senior stakeholders.
- Support clients in defining their service vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer value.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Capgemini's service design methodologies and internal capabilities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (4+ years) in Service Design, UX Strategy, or a related field within a consultancy or large enterprise environment.
- Demonstrable expertise in a wide range of service design tools and methodologies (e.g., journey mapping, service blueprinting, ethnography, prototyping).
- Strong proficiency in user research techniques and the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent facilitation and workshop leadership skills, adaptable to both in-person and remote settings.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities to articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with design and collaboration tools (e.g., Miro, Figma, Adobe XD, Mural, M365 suite).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
- A portfolio showcasing relevant service design projects and impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Service Design, HCI, Product Design, Anthropology, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in an agile development environment.
- Previous experience in a client-facing consulting role.
- Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives and emerging technologies.
- Certifications in Design Thinking, Agile, or related methodologies.
