Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and independent Remote Smart Contract Developer to join our team on a freelance basis. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining secure and efficient smart contracts on various blockchain platforms. While Chevron Phillips Chemical is rooted in industrial manufacturing, we recognize the transformative potential of blockchain technology in areas such as supply chain management, data integrity, intellectual property tracking, and process automation. You will work closely with our internal innovation and IT teams, acting as a subject matter expert in blockchain and decentralized applications. Your primary focus will be on greenfield projects, proof-of-concepts, and pilot programs designed to explore the feasibility and benefits of incorporating smart contracts into our existing infrastructure or new ventures. This role demands a strong understanding of blockchain architecture, cryptographic principles, and best practices for secure smart contract development. You must be self-motivated, capable of managing your own workload, and possess excellent problem-solving skills to navigate the complexities of integrating decentralized solutions within an enterprise environment. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy secure and efficient smart contracts primarily using Solidity on Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchains.
- Perform code reviews, ensure adherence to security best practices, and implement robust testing frameworks for all smart contract code.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and translate business needs into technical specifications for blockchain solutions.
- Integrate smart contracts with front-end applications, backend systems, and external APIs using Web3.js, Ethers.js, or similar libraries.
- Research and evaluate new blockchain technologies, protocols, and development tools to recommend optimal solutions for specific project requirements.
- Contribute to the documentation of smart contract architecture, design decisions, and deployment procedures.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in blockchain technology, security vulnerabilities, and industry standards.
Required Skills
- Expertise in Solidity and EVM-compatible blockchain development.
- Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals, cryptography, and decentralized application (dApp) architecture.
- Proficiency with development frameworks such as Hardhat or Truffle.
- Experience with Web3.js or Ethers.js for blockchain interaction.
- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Solid grasp of smart contract security best practices and common vulnerabilities.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for remote collaboration and explaining complex technical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with other blockchain platforms (e.g., Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, Polkadot, Solana).
- Familiarity with IPFS or other decentralized storage solutions.
- Proven track record of contributing to open-source blockchain projects.
- Understanding of DeFi protocols, NFTs, DAOs, or other advanced blockchain concepts.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
