Job Description

Slalom is seeking an experienced and dynamic Remote Solutions Architect to join our growing team, serving clients primarily based in the Boston, Massachusetts area and beyond. As a Solutions Architect at Slalom, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical realities. You will work closely with our diverse clients to understand their challenges, define their strategic technology roadmaps, and architect cutting-edge solutions across various cloud platforms and enterprise landscapes. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a consultative mindset. You will be responsible for leading discovery sessions, translating complex business requirements into elegant technical designs, and guiding development teams through implementation.
Your day-to-day will involve evaluating current state architectures, identifying opportunities for improvement, and proposing future state designs that leverage the latest technologies and best practices. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, presenting intricate technical concepts clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of complex enterprise solutions for Slalom's clients, focusing on scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with clients to understand business requirements, pain points, and strategic objectives, translating them into technical specifications and architectural blueprints.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Evaluate existing client IT landscapes, identify opportunities for modernization and improvement, and recommend innovative technology solutions.
- Present technical concepts, solution designs, and strategic recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and architectural patterns, integrating relevant advancements into solution designs.
- Participate in pre-sales activities, including solutioning, effort estimation, and presenting Slalom's capabilities to prospective clients.
- Mentor and coach junior architects and developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a Solutions Architect or similar role.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing solutions across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Proficiency in various architectural domains (e.g., application, data, infrastructure, security).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into viable technical solutions.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and working in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
- Experience with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless computing.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Consulting experience with a focus on client delivery and relationship management.
