Job Description

Softcat plc is seeking a talented and driven Remote Technical Account Partner to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will act as the primary technical point of contact for a portfolio of key clients, working remotely to understand their complex business challenges and translate them into innovative, cutting-edge IT solutions.

Working in close collaboration with our sales teams, pre-sales engineers, and a broad ecosystem of vendor partners, you will be instrumental in designing, proposing, and facilitating the implementation of technical roadmaps that align perfectly with our clients’ strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor and trusted partner for a designated portfolio of key Softcat clients, fostering long-term relationships.
  • Deeply understand client business objectives, existing IT challenges, and current infrastructure to proactively identify strategic technical opportunities and solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with sales and pre-sales teams to design, architect, and propose complex IT solutions across diverse technology stacks (e.g., Cloud, Security, Data Centre, Networking).
  • Conduct compelling technical presentations, interactive workshops, and comprehensive solution demonstrations for both technical and non-technical client stakeholders.
  • Act as a crucial technical liaison between clients, Softcat's internal technical teams, and strategic vendor partners, ensuring seamless communication and delivery.
  • Develop and meticulously maintain comprehensive technical account plans, including strategic roadmaps for technology adoption, refresh cycles, and future growth.
  • Continuously stay abreast of the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and Softcat's evolving solution portfolio to provide cutting-edge advice.
  • Provide expert post-sales technical guidance and support, ensuring the successful deployment, optimal performance, and ultimate satisfaction of implemented solutions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in a technical account management, solutions architecture, or senior technical consultancy role.
  • Strong understanding of modern IT infrastructure, including cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP), networking principles, virtualisation technologies, and storage solutions.
  • Solid grasp of cybersecurity principles and solutions (e.g., endpoint protection, network security, identity and access management, data protection).
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, credible client relationships at various organisational levels, fostering trust and partnership.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities and a proactive, consultative approach to understanding and addressing client needs.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and effectively manage time, priorities, and client expectations in a remote work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, CCNA, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, VCP).
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and tools (e.g., ITIL).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Prior experience working for an IT reseller, managed service provider (MSP), or system integrator.
