Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Remote Technical Documentation Editor to join our dynamic and growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for a wide array of software products, services, and internal systems. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, quality assurance teams, and other subject matter experts to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly and accessible content. This role requires exceptional writing and editing capabilities, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently within an Agile development framework. As a Remote Technical Documentation Editor, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our documentation meets the highest standards of quality, consistency, and usability, directly contributing to user satisfaction and product adoption. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, release notes, online help, FAQs, and internal process documents.
- Collaborate proactively with software developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy and completeness of content.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to established style guides, terminology standards, and branding guidelines.
- Manage the entire documentation lifecycle, from initial planning and content creation to review, publication, and ongoing maintenance.
- Translate highly technical information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on documentation produced by other team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes, new features, and user feedback.
- Contribute to the improvement of documentation processes, tools, and workflows.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Editor, Technical Writer, or similar role, preferably in a remote capacity.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong command of grammar, style, and punctuation.
- Proficiency with documentation authoring tools such as Confluence, Jira, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, error-free content.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with Markdown, XML, or other structured authoring languages.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for documentation.
- Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, or other developer-focused content.
- Portfolio of previous technical writing or editing work demonstrating expertise.
