Job Description

Are you a meticulous wordsmith with a passion for clarity and precision in technical communication? Do you thrive in a remote environment, valuing both autonomy and collaborative synergy, with the flexibility to manage your schedule? Genesys is seeking a talented and experienced Remote Technical Editor to join our dynamic documentation team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, consistency, and overall quality of a wide range of technical documentation that supports our cutting-edge customer experience solutions. You will work closely with technical writers, product managers, engineers, and UX designers to refine content for various audiences, from developers and administrators to end-users.

This isn’t just about catching typos; it’s about shaping information architecture, enforcing style guides, improving readability, and ensuring our documentation effectively communicates complex technical concepts in an accessible and user-friendly manner. This role offers the unique opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized company while enjoying the benefits of a fully remote work model and a flexible schedule, allowing for a healthy work-life integration. You will play a critical role in enhancing the customer journey by making our product documentation intuitive, reliable, and exceptional. We are looking for someone who can uphold the highest editorial standards, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a unified voice across all Genesys technical content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, edit, and proofread technical documentation for clarity, grammar, punctuation, spelling, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, Microsoft Manual of Style, internal Genesys style guides).
  • Collaborate closely with technical writers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and product teams to clarify technical concepts and ensure information accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure that all documentation meets the needs of its target audience, improving readability and usability through structural and content-level edits.
  • Enforce and contribute to the development of Genesys's editorial standards, terminology, and content strategy across various documentation types (e.g., user guides, API documentation, release notes, online help, knowledge base articles, training materials).
  • Provide constructive feedback to technical writers to enhance their writing skills and understanding of editorial best practices.
  • Conduct content audits and propose improvements for existing documentation sets.
  • Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices in technical communication, editing tools, and content management systems.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, syntax, punctuation, and style.
  • Proven experience as a technical editor, copy editor, or senior technical writer with a strong editing focus, preferably within a software or technology environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with content authoring tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Paligo, Adobe FrameMaker, XML editors) and content management systems (CMS).
  • Strong understanding of documentation development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration in a remote team setting.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects under deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience with DITA XML authoring.
  • Familiarity with style guides such as the Microsoft Manual of Style or a strong ability to quickly adapt to new internal style guides.
  • Experience editing documentation for SaaS platforms, cloud computing, or customer experience (CX) technologies.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams).
  • Certification in technical communication or editing.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and company holidays.
  • Flexible work schedule and a fully remote work model, empowering work-life balance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Opportunities for professional development, training, and career growth.
  • Access to cutting-edge technology and tools.
  • Employee assistance programs and wellness initiatives.
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and innovative company culture.
