Job Description
Join F5 Networks as a Remote Virtual Network Technician and play a critical role in supporting our cutting-edge network infrastructure from the comfort of your home office. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for the proactive monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of virtual network environments, ensuring optimal performance and availability for our internal systems and customer-facing solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and technically proficient individual to contribute to a world-class team, leveraging your expertise in virtualization, cloud networking, and network security. You will work independently to resolve complex technical issues, escalate problems when necessary, and collaborate with various engineering and support teams to implement solutions and preventative measures. Your day-to-day will involve diagnosing network connectivity issues, configuring virtual network components, implementing security policies, and maintaining comprehensive documentation of network configurations and processes. We are looking for someone who is passionate about networking, eager to learn new technologies, and dedicated to delivering exceptional technical support in a fast-paced, remote-first environment. While this role is remote, occasional travel for team meetings or training may be required (less than 10%). Key Responsibilities
- Monitor virtual network environments for performance, availability, and security using various network management tools.
- Perform initial diagnosis and troubleshooting of virtual network connectivity issues, including VPNs, firewalls, and routing protocols.
- Configure and maintain virtual network devices and services, such as virtual switches, load balancers, and network segmentation.
- Implement and enforce network security policies within virtualized and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams to resolve complex network incidents and implement permanent solutions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide timely support for critical network issues.
- Assist in the deployment and migration of virtual network infrastructure components.
- Identify opportunities for network optimization and automation within virtualized environments.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in network administration or support roles.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and switching technologies.
- Proficiency with virtual networking concepts and platforms (e.g., VMware NSX, Cisco ACI, OpenStack Neutron).
- Experience with cloud networking services (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet, Google Cloud Networking).
- Familiarity with firewall configuration and network security principles.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues remotely.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for network automation.
- Familiarity with F5 products (e.g., BIG-IP LTM, AFM, APM) or other application delivery controllers.
- Experience with network monitoring tools like Wireshark, Splunk, or similar.
