Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct remote visual inspections of welding activities and finished products through documented evidence, photographic/video submissions, and virtual tools.
  • Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to ensure full compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action requests in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to relevant international codes, standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API), and client-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, fabricators, and engineers to address quality issues, propose robust solutions, and ensure project continuity remotely.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all inspection activities, documentation, and communications.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings, contributing actively and providing expert technical guidance on welding quality matters.
  • Continuously update knowledge on new welding techniques, materials, and inspection technologies to maintain industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2, AWS CWI, or equivalent internationally recognized certification).
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Welding Inspector in heavy fabrication, construction, mining, or oil & gas industries.
  • Thorough understanding of various welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) and associated defects.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Strong knowledge of international welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104).
  • Excellent report writing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in using digital tools for remote work, including video conferencing, cloud-based document management, and inspection software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and capable of working independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Level II certification in PT, MT, UT, or RT.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and internal auditing.
  • Familiarity with project management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Previous experience specifically in a remote inspection or quality assurance coordination role.
