Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, research, and report on news stories from initial concept to final broadcast/publication.
- Conduct interviews with sources, witnesses, and experts in the field.
- Gather factual information through various methods, including on-the-ground reporting, data analysis, and document review.
- Write clear, concise, and engaging copy suitable for multiple platforms (print, digital, broadcast).
- Verify facts, sources, and information for accuracy and adherence to journalistic standards.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and videographers to produce comprehensive news packages.
- Respond quickly to breaking news events, often requiring travel to affected locations.
- Utilise social media and digital tools for news gathering, promotion, and audience engagement.
- Adhere to strict ethical guidelines and legal requirements in all reporting.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts within the community.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Reporter or Journalist, demonstrating strong news judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in journalistic research techniques and fact-checking.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines.
- Strong interviewing and investigative skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of media law and journalistic ethics.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel frequently within Northern Ireland.
