Job Description
Amity University Mauritius is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our dynamic academic team. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews, critically analyze existing research, and synthesize findings relevant to ongoing academic projects.
- Assist in the precise design and development of robust research methodologies, including the creation of survey instruments, interview protocols, and experimental setups.
- Perform meticulous qualitative and quantitative data collection, which may involve conducting interviews, distributing surveys, facilitating focus groups, and managing experimental observations.
- Efficiently organize, clean, and manage large and complex datasets using appropriate software and database management techniques.
- Conduct preliminary and advanced data analysis using statistical software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R, Python, NVivo) and interpret results with precision and clarity under faculty supervision.
- Prepare initial drafts of research reports, academic papers for peer-reviewed journals, presentations for conferences, and comprehensive grant proposals.
- Assist with the thorough preparation and submission of ethical review applications to ensure full compliance with institutional guidelines and national regulations.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and organized records of all research activities, collected data, and discovered findings, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Provide essential administrative support for various research projects, including scheduling meetings, managing project timelines, tracking budgets, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively participate in research seminars, workshops, and team meetings to contribute to intellectual discussions, stay updated on current research trends, and foster continuous professional development.
- Support the effective dissemination of research findings through various channels, including contributing to conference presentations, journal articles, and university-level reports.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant academic discipline (e.g., Social Sciences, Business, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health).
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in a research-related role, preferably within an academic institution or a project-based research setting.
- Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and data collection techniques (e.g., surveys, interviews, experiments, case studies).
- Demonstrable experience with data analysis tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis, SPSS, R, or Python for advanced statistical modeling).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex scientific or academic information clearly and concisely.
- Outstanding organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as an integral part of a diverse research team.
- Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for professional communication and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or currently enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program in a relevant field.
- Prior experience with academic writing, including contributions to research publications, peer-reviewed articles, or conference proceedings.
- Familiarity with various academic citation styles (e.g., APA, MLA, Harvard, Chicago).
- Experience with grant proposal writing, project management software, or research funding applications.
- Knowledge of specific subject matter relevant to ongoing research projects at Amity University Mauritius.
- Basic understanding of research ethics and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR principles).
