Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our growing Data & Reporting team. Based in our vibrant Leeds Dock office, this role is crucial in supporting our mission to deliver data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions and drive innovation. As a Research Assistant, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end data lifecycle, from collection and cleaning to analysis and reporting. You’ll work closely with senior researchers and cross-functional teams, contributing to various projects that span different industries and challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, clean, and validate diverse datasets from multiple internal and external sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Conduct preliminary data analysis using statistical methods to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Develop, maintain, and automate comprehensive data reports and dashboards using various data visualization tools.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and execution of quantitative and qualitative research projects.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and engaging presentations, summaries, and visualizations of research findings for stakeholders.
  • Support senior researchers with literature reviews, methodology development, and data interpretation.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Document data processes, methodologies, and reporting standards to ensure consistency and replicability.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging tools, and advancements in data analysis, reporting, and research methodologies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for data collection, analysis, and reporting workflows.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel (advanced functions), R, Python (Pandas, NumPy), or SQL.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data, draw meaningful conclusions, and present findings effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Foundational understanding of research methodologies, statistical concepts, and data visualization principles.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive attitude with a strong capacity for independent work and collaborative teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience (internship or professional) in a research assistant, data analyst, or reporting role.
  • Familiarity with survey design and administration platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey).
  • Basic knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or big data technologies.
  • Understanding of database management systems and data warehousing concepts.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and methodologies in the data science landscape.
