Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Residential Care Manager in the day-to-day management and operation of the care home, ensuring compliance with CQC regulations and internal policies.
  • Lead and supervise care staff during shifts, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high-quality care delivery.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of personalised care plans, regularly reviewing and updating them to meet evolving resident needs.
  • Manage medication administration safely and accurately, adhering to all protocols and maintaining meticulous records.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for residents, their families, and external professionals, addressing concerns and fostering positive relationships.
  • Participate in staff training and development initiatives, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Handle admissions and discharges efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Assist with rotas and staffing levels to ensure appropriate coverage and effective resource allocation.
  • Promote a stimulating and engaging environment for residents, facilitating activities and social interaction.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and critical incidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and staff.

Required Skills

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
  • At least 3 years of experience in a residential care setting, with demonstrated supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations and best practices in care provision.
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing person-centred care plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required by the flexible schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards).
  • Experience with electronic care planning systems.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Training in Safeguarding Adults and challenging behaviour management.
