As a Resort Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in our daily operations, directly impacting guest satisfaction and the overall resort experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all resort facilities, equipment, and guest rooms to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests from guests and staff, diagnosing issues and performing necessary repairs in areas such as electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and resort policies.
  • Maintain swimming pools, water features, and irrigation systems, including regular cleaning, chemical balancing, and equipment checks.
  • Conduct general grounds maintenance, including minor landscaping repairs and upkeep of outdoor fixtures.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment and systems as required, following manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to minimize disruption to guest services and ensure smooth resort operations.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably within the hospitality industry or a large facility.
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical problems and implement effective solutions independently.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and ability to work safely with various tools and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and colleagues.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 kg), climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per resort needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or technical certification in a relevant trade (e.g., electrician, plumber, HVAC technician).
  • Prior experience working in a luxury hotel or resort environment in Zanzibar or East Africa.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in Swahili and English.
