As a Critical Care Respiratory Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in providing advanced respiratory care, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to manage complex cardiopulmonary pathologies and support recovery in our intensive care units.

You will be instrumental in the initiation, monitoring, and discontinuation of mechanical ventilation for a diverse patient population, performing crucial advanced airway management procedures, and administering a wide array of respiratory treatments and diagnostic procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Initiate, monitor, and manage various modes of mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive) for critically ill patients.
- Perform advanced airway management, including endotracheal intubation assistance and tracheostomy care.
- Administer aerosolized medications, medical gases, and provide oxygen therapy.
- Conduct arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, interpreting results to guide patient management.
- Perform bedside pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and other diagnostic procedures.
- Assess patient respiratory status, recommend and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care procedures and equipment.
- Document patient care accurately and comprehensively in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient rounds and contribute to care planning.
- Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and provide resuscitation support.
Required Skills
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the NBRC
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in Delaware
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care or critical care setting
- Proficiency in mechanical ventilation management and advanced airway techniques
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field
- Specialty certifications such as PALS or NRP
- Experience with advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Previous experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
