Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and seat guests, managing reservations and walk-ins efficiently.
- Assist with taking accurate food and beverage orders, offering recommendations when appropriate.
- Serve food and drinks promptly and courteously, ensuring high standards of presentation.
- Clear tables efficiently, clean dining areas, and reset tables quickly for the next guests.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the restaurant and service areas at all times.
- Support kitchen staff with basic tasks such as dishwashing or minor food prep during peak hours.
- Handle guest inquiries, provide information, and address minor concerns professionally, escalating when necessary.
- Ensure all service stations are fully stocked with cutlery, napkins, condiments, and other essentials.
- Accurately operate POS systems for order entry, modifications, and payment processing.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) teams to ensure seamless service.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up and tidying the dining area, and preparing for the next shift.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a clear and friendly demeanor.
- Proven ability to work effectively and remain calm in a fast-paced, high-pressure restaurant environment.
- Strong customer service orientation, demonstrating empathy and a positive, welcoming attitude.
- Basic numeracy skills for accurate order taking and handling cash/card transactions.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, walk long distances, and lift moderate weights (up to 10kg) regularly.
- Reliable team player with a proactive, 'can-do' approach to all tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per restaurant needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 6 months of previous experience in a hospitality, restaurant, or customer service role.
- Basic understanding of food safety standards; a Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate is a plus.
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems for order management and payment processing.
- Knowledge of the local Richmond, Sheffield area and its diverse clientele.
