Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests upon arrival and escort them to their tables with a friendly demeanor.
  • Efficiently manage reservations, waitlists, and seating charts using a dedicated host system.
  • Answer phone calls professionally, address guest inquiries, and take accurate reservations.
  • Coordinate closely with servers and kitchen staff to manage dining room flow and optimize table turns.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and inviting appearance of the host stand and entrance area.
  • Handle guest complaints, feedback, or special requests with professionalism, empathy, and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Assist with various duties as needed, such as clearing tables, refilling water, or assisting with menu presentation.
  • Monitor dining room activity to ensure overall guest satisfaction and address any emerging issues promptly.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a clear and pleasant speaking voice.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities, with a natural inclination to assist others.
  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and organized in a high-pressure, fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Proficiency in managing reservations and seating arrangements, with strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer literacy for operating reservation systems and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6+ months) as a host, hostess, or in a customer-facing role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.

  • Ability to speak additional local languages (e.g., Yoruba) is considered a valuable asset.
