Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients (chop vegetables, cut meats, portion items) according to recipes and chef's instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering strictly to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist line cooks during service hours with plating and final touches as needed.
  • Store food items properly, managing inventory rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, following all safety protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with all kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
  • Monitor food quality and freshness, promptly reporting any discrepancies or issues to a supervisor.
  • Perform dishwashing and other general cleaning duties as required to maintain kitchen hygiene.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations and fundamental food safety principles.
  • Ability to accurately follow recipes and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong, positive work ethic and a commitment to teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or other food service setting.
  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
