Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and highly organized Restaurant Storekeeper to join a dynamic culinary team in Opebi, Lagos. This pivotal role ensures the efficient flow of goods, meticulous inventory management, and optimal stock control, directly contributing to the seamless operation of our kitchen and overall restaurant success. As a Storekeeper, you will be at the heart of our supply chain, responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, and issuance of all food, beverage, and non-food items. Your expertise will guarantee that our culinary team always has access to fresh, high-quality ingredients and essential supplies.

This position requires an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of inventory best practices, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized storage environment. You will be instrumental in preventing waste, identifying discrepancies, and implementing effective stock rotation strategies. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming deliveries against purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of quantity, quality, and specifications.
  • Safely and systematically store food, beverage, and non-food items in designated areas, adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, both physical and digital, using inventory management systems.
  • Issue supplies to various restaurant departments (kitchen, bar, dining) upon authorized requisitions.
  • Implement and monitor FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile with system records, investigating and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Monitor stock levels, identify low stock items, and communicate reorder needs to management to prevent shortages.
  • Ensure all storage areas are clean, organized, pest-free, and comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.
  • Report damaged, spoiled, or expired products immediately and arrange for proper disposal or return.
  • Operate and maintain storekeeping equipment (e.g., trolleys, weighing scales) safely and efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Storekeeper, preferably in a restaurant, hotel, or similar hospitality environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic and inventory management principles.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items, and stand for extended periods.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory control software or systems.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of OND/HND in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in Food Handling or Hygiene.
  • Experience with a variety of food and beverage products.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
