Key Responsibilities

  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using POS (Point of Sale) systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, warmly greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues politely and professionally.
  • Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring accuracy, security, and proper reconciliation at the end of shifts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting checkout area, ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is functional.
  • Assist with bagging purchases and offering help to carry items for customers when needed, enhancing the overall shopping experience.
  • Actively promote store loyalty programs, special offers, and upcoming promotions to customers.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other store departments to ensure smooth store operations and a cohesive work environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies and procedures, including those related to loss prevention, safety, and security.
  • Perform basic merchandising tasks, such as restocking shelves near the checkout area and ensuring product displays are tidy and appealing.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as required, including cash drawer preparation and store tidying.

Required Skills

  • Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in handling financial transactions.
  • Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment.
  • Solid basic math skills for efficient cash handling and calculating change.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs (approximately 9 kg), and perform repetitive tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a retail, cashier, or customer service role.
  • Familiarity with POS (Point of Sale) systems and electronic payment processing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
