As a vital member of our drilling operations, you will contribute directly to the successful execution of various drilling projects, playing an integral role in our field teams. You will work closely with experienced Drillers, Derrickhands, and other crew members, assisting in all phases of the drilling process from initial setup and rigging down to maintaining the drilling site and assisting with drilling fluid management. Your responsibilities will directly impact the efficiency and safety of our operations, requiring keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Your day-to-day will be incredibly diverse, ranging from handling heavy equipment and materials, such as drill pipes and casings, to performing routine maintenance checks on machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Drillers, Derrickhands, and other crew members in all drilling operations.
- Handle, sort, and rack drill pipes, casings, and other downhole tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on drilling equipment, including lubrication and cleaning.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite, ensuring adherence to strict housekeeping standards.
- Load and unload materials and equipment using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments, and adhere strictly to all safety policies and procedures.
- Operate and maintain pumps, hoses, and other equipment for drilling fluid management and circulation.
- Assist with the rigging up and rigging down of drilling rigs, ensuring efficient and safe setup/takedown.
- Monitor equipment and report any malfunctions, wear and tear, or potential hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Support emergency response procedures as required by site safety plans.
Required Skills
- Strong physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Ability to work effectively in various weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, fostering a collaborative work atmosphere.
- High regard for safety procedures and protocols, with a proactive approach to hazard identification.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to learn new skills, take direction, and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in physically demanding outdoor work (e.g., construction, agriculture, manufacturing, heavy labor).
- Knowledge of basic oilfield terminology and equipment.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Manual Handling).
- Forklift operator certification or experience operating similar heavy machinery.
