Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and physically capable Road Worker to join a dynamic team in the Siemens Campus Area of Erlangen. This is a pivotal role that contributes directly to the maintenance, construction, and repair of critical road infrastructure, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and pedestrian safety across our communities. As a Road Worker, you will be on the front lines, literally laying the groundwork for progress and connectivity. Your daily tasks will be diverse, challenging, and incredibly rewarding, as you witness the direct impact of your labor on local infrastructure projects, ranging from minor repairs to significant new constructions.

Working outdoors in various weather conditions, you will be an essential part of a crew responsible for preparing sites, operating machinery, handling materials, and adhering to strict safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, shoveling, raking, and spreading asphalt, gravel, and other materials.
  • Operate and maintain various hand and power tools, including jackhammers, plate compactors, and concrete mixers.
  • Assist with the setup and removal of traffic control devices, including signs, cones, and barricades, to ensure worker and public safety.
  • Prepare road surfaces for paving, patching, and repair, including excavation and grading.
  • Lay and finish asphalt, concrete, and other paving materials according to project specifications.
  • Install and repair drainage systems, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
  • Participate in general site maintenance, including cleaning up debris and ensuring the work area is tidy and safe.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and traffic management plans.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and to high standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.

Required Skills

  • Proven physical fitness and stamina for demanding outdoor work.
  • Ability to operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and protocols.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials and techniques.
  • Valid driver's license (Class B equivalent in Germany) is often preferred for site access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in road construction, landscaping, or general labor.
  • Certification in operating specific heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, loaders) is a significant advantage.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Fluency in German (B1 level or higher) for effective communication on site.
  • Experience with traffic management setup.
