You will perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, from routine inspections and preventative care to complex diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on all types of rolling stock components and systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures, accurately identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Execute repairs, adjustments, and replacements of vital components in strict accordance with technical specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Conduct thorough safety checks and operational tests on repaired or maintained rolling stock before approving its return to service.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance logs, work orders, incident reports, and other necessary documentation for compliance and historical records.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, environmental guidelines, and quality assurance procedures at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow maintainers, engineers, operational staff, and external contractors to ensure coordinated efforts and efficient workflow.
  • Participate actively in ongoing training and professional development programs to stay current with evolving rail technology, diagnostic tools, and maintenance best practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying potential issues and suggesting enhancements to maintenance processes or equipment.

Required Skills

  • Completed vocational training or apprenticeship in a relevant technical field (e.g., mechatronics, industrial mechanics, electrical engineering for rail systems)
  • Proven experience of at least 4 years in the maintenance and repair of rolling stock or heavy machinery within a transport context.
  • Strong fundamental understanding and practical experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, with a methodical approach to identifying faults.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
  • High level of safety consciousness and unwavering adherence to strict safety protocols and procedures.
  • Good command of the German language (B2 level or higher) for effective communication, documentation, and safety briefings.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a contributing member of a high-performance team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified welding experience (e.g., MAG, WIG) relevant to rail vehicle repair and fabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience with specific diagnostic software and specialized tools for modern rolling stock control systems.
  • Valid Class B driving license, with potential for further heavy vehicle licenses (e.g., C, CE) or rail-specific driving permits.
  • Prior experience working in a highly regulated transport environment with demanding operational schedules.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in rail-specific maintenance technologies, braking systems, or propulsion systems.
