As a Roof Installer, you will be instrumental in the successful completion of roofing projects, from initial setup to final inspection. Your expertise will cover the precise installation of various roofing materials, including standing seam metal roofs, corrugated metal panels, and traditional timber-framed structures. This role demands not only technical proficiency but also strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You will be expected to adhere to all building codes, safety regulations, and company standards, ensuring every installation meets our rigorous quality benchmarks. Key Responsibilities
- Execute the precise installation of various roofing systems, including metal (e.g., standing seam, corrugated) and wood (e.g., shingles, shakes over timber framing) components.
- Prepare roof surfaces for installation, including cleaning, repairing, and ensuring proper substrate readiness.
- Measure, cut, and fit roofing materials accurately according to project specifications and blueprints.
- Install underlayment, insulation, flashing, and ventilation systems to ensure waterproof and durable roof structures.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including saws, drills, shears, and specialized roofing equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and building codes (e.g., British Standards).
- Inspect finished roofs for quality, ensuring proper sealing, aesthetics, and structural integrity.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, site managers, and other trades to coordinate project timelines and workflow.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of waste materials.
- Communicate project progress and any potential issues to site management promptly and clearly.
- Undertake minor repairs and maintenance on existing roofs as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in roof installation, specifically with metal and wood assembly.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of hand and power tools common in roofing.
- Strong understanding of roofing materials, techniques, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent physical stamina, agility, and ability to work at heights in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and practices.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid UK Driving License.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Roofing Occupations or equivalent certification.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience with lead work or other specialist roofing materials.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience operating boom lifts or scissor lifts (IPAF certification desirable).
