We are actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Roof Installer, specializing in both metal and wood roof assembly, to join our expanding team in Northenden, Manchester. This pivotal full-time role involves the precise installation, repair, and maintenance of various roofing systems for both residential and commercial properties across the Greater Manchester area. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for working with a diverse range of materials, including but not limited to, standing seam metal panels, corrugated metal sheets, various types of timber trusses, rafters, and associated waterproofing elements like felts and membranes. This position demands a professional who is not only exceptionally adept with hand and power tools but also possesses a deep understanding of structural integrity, advanced weatherproofing standards, and stringent health and safety regulations pertinent to working at height and with heavy materials. You will be expected to meticulously interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings, accurately measure and cut materials, and ensure that all installations meet both company quality benchmarks and local building codes. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain various roofing systems, with a primary focus on metal and wood roof assembly.
- Measure, cut, and fit roofing materials precisely according to project specifications and blueprints.
- Ensure all roofing work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards.
- Inspect roofs to determine the extent of damage or the need for repair/replacement.
- Prepare roof surfaces for installation, including removing old roofing materials and making necessary structural repairs.
- Apply waterproofing membranes, sealants, and flashings to prevent leaks.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized roofing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with other team members, project managers, and clients.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Provide accurate reports on work progress and material usage.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Roof Installer, specifically with metal and wood roof systems.
- Strong understanding of roofing construction, materials, and techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Competence in using a variety of hand and power tools common in roofing.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Solid commitment to safety protocols and practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Roofing Occupations or equivalent certification.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience with specialized roofing machinery and equipment.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working on both residential and commercial projects.
