Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain various roofing systems, including metal sheets, panels, shingles, and timber frameworks.
- Accurately measure, cut, and fit roofing materials according to project specifications and blueprints.
- Prepare roof surfaces, ensuring proper insulation, waterproofing, and ventilation.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including drills, saws, nail guns, and welding equipment.
- Conduct thorough inspections of roofs to identify damage, defects, and potential issues.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and building codes.
- Collaborate effectively with site managers, fellow installers, and other trades on projects.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for.
- Provide high-quality finishes and ensure customer satisfaction with all completed work.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in metal and wood roof assembly and installation (minimum 3 years).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
- Strong knowledge of various roofing materials and their appropriate applications.
- Competence in using a wide range of hand and power tools specific to roofing.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety standards within the construction industry.
- Ability to work confidently and safely at heights.
- Physical stamina and strength for lifting heavy materials and prolonged standing/bending.
- Valid UK driving license and reliable transport.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Roofing.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with green roofing or solar panel integration systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
