You will be responsible for the precise installation, expert repair, and diligent maintenance of various types of roofing systems, including durable asphalt shingles, resilient metal roofs, and traditional clay or concrete tiles, on both new construction builds and significant renovation projects. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and replace various roofing systems including asphalt shingles, metal, and tiles on residential structures.
- Conduct thorough inspections of existing roofing for damage and determine the most effective repair or replacement solutions.
- Accurately measure and cut roofing materials to precise specifications as per project plans.
- Prepare roof surfaces meticulously for new installations, including safely removing old roofing materials and debris.
- Ensure proper ventilation and insulation are installed according to architectural plans and specifications.
- Work safely and confidently at heights, adhering strictly to all company and industry safety protocols and regulations.
- Operate hand and power tools common to roofing work safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with other construction team members, subcontractors, and site management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Adhere to project schedules and complete roofing tasks within established deadlines.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with project managers regarding progress, potential issues, and material needs.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of proven, hands-on experience in residential roofing.
- Proficiency in installing and repairing various roofing materials (e.g., asphalt shingles, metal roofing, tiles).
- Strong understanding of roofing techniques, materials, and comprehensive safety procedures.
- Ability to work comfortably, confidently, and safely at heights for extended periods.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Strong communication and collaborative teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and strict adherence to safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or relevant certification in roofing or general construction.
- Experience with specialized roofing systems or advanced techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local Rwandan building codes and regulations related to roofing.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to operate basic construction equipment (e.g., lifts, hoists) safely and efficiently.
