Key Responsibilities
- Clean and tidy all assigned guest rooms according to established standards of hygiene and presentation.
- Change bed linens, towels, and replenish all room amenities including toiletries, stationery, and promotional materials.
- Vacuum carpets, sweep, and mop hard floors in guest rooms and corridors, ensuring spotless surfaces.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms, including showers, toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and fittings to maintain their pristine condition.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of trash properly, following waste management procedures.
- Inspect rooms for maintenance issues such as faulty lights, leaks, or damages, and report them promptly.
- Handle guest requests professionally and efficiently, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of housekeeping trolleys, storage rooms, and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with front office and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Room Attendant or in a similar housekeeping role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a meticulous approach to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills and effective time management to meet deadlines.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform duties requiring bending, lifting, pushing, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of various cleaning agents and equipment.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and/or Swahili.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent secondary education.
- Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Housekeeping Operations, or a related field.
- Prior experience working in a hotel or lodge setting in Busia County or elsewhere in Kenya.
- Knowledge of local customs and cultural nuances relevant to guest interaction.
- Fluency in additional local languages prevalent in Busia County.
