Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Master/Officer in Charge with accurate navigation and pilotage of vessels on the River Thames, adhering strictly to local regulations and safe passage procedures.
- Perform routine deck duties, including mooring, anchoring, line handling, and general vessel maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
- Actively participate in safety drills, emergency procedures, and maintain proficiency in all safety equipment and protocols.
- Provide comprehensive crew assistance, supporting daily operations, maintaining tidiness, and fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Conduct regular inspections of vessel equipment, reporting any defects or necessary repairs promptly to senior officers.
- Ensure all environmental protection guidelines are followed during vessel operations and maintenance.
- Contribute to the loading and unloading of cargo or passengers as required, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the bridge, other crew members, and shore-based personnel.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in basic seamanship and maritime terminology.
