Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and dedicated School Cleaner to join our team on an early shift basis. This crucial role ensures our school environment is meticulously clean, hygienic, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors before the school day officially begins. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across all school facilities, including classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. This position requires someone who is proactive, reliable, possesses a strong work ethic, and takes immense pride in creating a pristine educational setting. You will be an integral part of ensuring a safe and healthy learning atmosphere for our students. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and dusting surfaces meticulously.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms thoroughly, replenishing soap, toilet paper, and other supplies as needed.
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas, ensuring proper waste segregation.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to a streak-free standard.
- Ensure all classrooms, offices, and common areas are tidy, organised, and presentable.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly and accurately.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and school-specific cleaning protocols.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and effectively, reporting any malfunctions.
- Monitor and manage cleaning supplies inventory, reporting needs for replenishment in a timely manner.
- Assist with setting up and tidying areas for school events, meetings, or special occasions as required.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in all cleaning tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures diligently.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Exceptional reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment usage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cleaner in a school, hospital, or similar institutional environment.
- Familiarity with various cleaning techniques and the operation of different cleaning equipment.
- Basic literacy and communication skills (English and/or Kiswahili).
- Knowledge of health and safety standards related to cleaning and sanitation.
